I like to personalise my computers.

  1. Oooh, neat!

I wouldn't get too personal with them, though. One day you're surfing the net, the next thing you, the damn thing'll start flushing you out of an airlock for disagreeing with it; or you'll end up in a vat full of liquid, with a tube up one end while the machines suck the life out of you!

  2. I used to customise my PC more than i do now. For example, I went through a phase of making my computer as much like Zen from Blake's 7 as possible - even down to sampling stock phrases to be used for Windows sounds, like 'Information!' for a dialog box, and 'I'm sorry...I have failed you' for an error message.

Then, against all the odds, i got fractionally more of a life...

If any machine wants to do that, I'll happily let it take over my world ;-D.

Heh. Heh heh. Who needs a life when you've got seminal dystopian sci-fi?

I think I'll make mine say "What is it now?" and "A statement of fact cannot be insolent". Somehow I'd much rather have Orac than Slave.

But, as the Zen Master said, "Wisdom must be gathered, it cannot be given."
