Numbers Up

My blood sugar is 25. 25 what I don't know, but the healthy level is 5.

My blood pressure is 85/108. 85 what over 108 what I've no idea, but like the rent, it's too damn high.

Other results from my medical exam last week should be coming through soon, but I'm detecting a pattern. Namely, that I could drop dead at any time, and there's a reason I've been feeling like crap all year.

I'm writing this in the 1 or 2 hour window of each day when I can think straight, don't have thudding headaches and don't feel like climbing back into bed.

You know what's really annoying? I didn't get to have messed up health by taking drugs, partying all night, having vast amounts of anonymous sex and enjoying every nerve ending my body's got to offer. No, I just ate too many chocolate biscuits and didn't join a gym. That, and just being alive long enough to turn 40.

So, I'm attempting to develop a taste for carrots, lettuce, yoghurt, apples and anything else that doesn't contain simple carbohydrates. I'll let you know if it's worth it.

  1. Sorry to hear you've been feeling like crap. :-(

I don't know if UK doctors measure differently, but that would be a good blood pressure reading on this side of the pond. The blood sugar ... well, that's kind of scary.

Speaking as one who is trying to feign love for healthy foods ... carrots and lettuce only tastes good if you're a rabbit.

  2. It sounds like you're diabetic and have high blood pressure, too. Not good, and not to be taken lightly. But, it's sortable with meds.

Don't bury your head in the sand (or any other part of you), and get it dealt with PDQ!

  3. I do indeed, and I am indeed.

Well diagnosed. Dr Camy is in the house! Or Sussex anyway.
